"Astonishing Dating Do's and Don'ts of Celebs"
We gotta tell
ya, if you’re taking your dating advice and relationship cues from pop
culture,
you might want to rethink that. Among the celebutantes, reality TV
“stars,”
A-listers, D-listers, and everyone in between, there is a growing list
of
glaring dating misses.
Celeb gossip is
a guilty pleasure but there isn’t a whole lot to emulate among the
train wrecks
and hot messes that make the front page of the tabloids every week.
There is,
however, plenty to be learned from their dating blunders and
relationship woes –
and we’re gonna tell you all about it!
Star Power
There are other
guys out there besides Robert Pattinson who are ruining your chances
for love. We’re
talking about Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford,
Hugh
Jackman, Patrick Dempsey, Ryan Reynolds, Will Smith, George Clooney…
need we go
on?
Don’t miss our love lessons from The Jersey Shore!
And fellas, we
didn’t forget about you either. There are real
women out there to love, those who transcend the
pumped-up, overdone look
endorsed by Hollywood.
Rather than trying to land a doppelganger of the plasticized version of
Pam
Anderson, the uber-pouty Megan Fox, or the super-fierce Beyonce, think
beyond
the makeup, stilettos, and mighty, mighty Spanx.
Celebs set the
bar way too freaking high. We develop unnatural feelings for people
we’ve never
even met – and it’s usually not because of who they really are in their
day-to-day life, it’s because of who they portray on screen. You want
the
fantasy, the passionate sex, the grandiose proposal, the man who is
willing to
make a fool of himself for little ol’ you. You want the girl next door
and the
freak in the bed.
But the
identities of these folks in real life goes beyond what pop culture
feeds us –
they eat, drink, go to the bathroom, have bad breath, gain weight,
aren’t easy
to live with, and have some annoying little habits that can drive their
significant other batty.
That’s the
perfection that gets conveniently omitted in pop culture's fancy photo
shoots, on the
big
screen, and in interviews. You don’t hear about the poopy diapers they
change,
the gas they get when they eat pepperoni, or the unnatural phobia they
have
about sharing straws.
Their
characters might save lives or write poetic letters or profess their
undying
love because of a script, but in real life they have flaws. And the
likes of
Angelina Jolie and Edward
Cullen do too (over-protective much?).
This Isn’t Your Movie
Life really
isn’t a movie. You don’t have lines to read, no one tells you how to
react in a
certain uncomfortable romantic situation, there are no cues to tell you
when to
cry or laugh or stick it out for the long haul.

they’ll
have a few scars and flaws… and you’ll like it).
