"Relationship Quizzes:
What's So Great About Them?"
There are plenty of relationship quizzes out there – online and in
magazines. They taunt you, tease you, tempt you, until you just have to take one… or more, many more.
What’s so great about these quizzes? Well, we like ‘em quite a bit to
be honest. And we know you take them seriously. We do too. So how about a
closer look at the intrigue and allure of multiple choice questions?
Addicted to the A, B, C, Ds
When you can’t stop yourself from taking relationship quizzes, that
doesn’t mean you’re addicted. To us, it just means you’re looking for
answers. And because you’re still taking the tests, the same kinds of
tests, over and over again, it signifies one of two things:
- You’re getting answers
that scare the wits out of you so you take more tests in order to cancel
out the results of previous relationship quizzes.
- You just can’t find a
relationship test that resonates with you and actually teaches you
something about love and dating.
Let’s dig a little deeper into both of these points.
When a Relationship Quiz Makes
You Want to Punch the Computer
If you’re getting freaked out by the incredibly accurate test results
you receive, that’s a good thing. It means that something has hit a nerve.
That’s when we say: you might want to reread those results and explore what
feelings they bring up in you.
Think about the times when you’ve read your horoscope and the weight of
the words hit you like a ton of bricks. Those little newspaper or magazine
columns with a look into the stars might only be a few sentences long, but when
they’re right, they’re right. There’s no denying that… right?
You take relationship quizzes trying to determine if the guy you’re
with is the one. You wonder if your compatibility is written
in the stars. You just want the answers. We want that for you to.
But we’d like to challenge you to rise to the occasion: the next time
you take a relationship test that hits home, that makes you say, “Who do these
people think they are?” pause a moment to identify your feelings instead of
blowing off what you just read. Are you mad because the test read you like a
book? Are you embarrassed because you have sometimes exhibited bad behaviors in
dating?
You take these tests for answers – so take ‘em, work through them. No
tests – at least not the worthwhile tests – are meant to mock you or make fun
of you (unless they specifically state as much).
What Can You Learn from
Relationship Quizzes?
If you aren’t in the group of people who are taking relationship and
dating tests in order to get the answers they want, you might be in the group that is looking for the ultimate
quiz. You want the be-all, end-all answers to your biggest questions about love
and men and women and dating.
For some reason though, you’re not quite open to the quiz results
you’re getting. It’s not because they make you mad. It’s almost as though the
answers make you indifferent. The way you’re categorized leaves you cold rather
than red-hot and steaming mad. Frankly, we’d rather hang out with the pissed
off people – at least they’re exhibiting some emotion.
When you feel like none of the tests you take resonate with you, we
fear that you are completely turned off to love and self-reflection altogether.
It’s almost like you’re clicking that mouse and merely skimming the questions
you’re being asked, merely out of habit. Now where is that kind of attitude
going to get you? Certainly not into a relationship.
Though we certainly do our fair share of tongue-in-cheek talking here
at Dating Inspiration Online (DIO), we mean what we say and we say what we
mean. The relationship
quizzes we offer on our site are meant to inform and partially entertain (after all, what fun is a quiz if you can’t
have a little chuckle here and there – otherwise it just feels like school!). And
if you haven’t found the quiz for you yet, check back often because we’re adding
new ones regularly.
In the meantime, start looking in the mirror, even if you’re having a
bad hair day. We guarantee there’s something there that’s worth a second
glance.
